REFRAMESF takes you around the city in the ultimate photo
scavenger hunt!
WHAT:
Armed with a handful of film screenshots
and a sense of
adventure, teams set out to capture photos of San Francisco filming
locations
and contrast the cinematic past with the present. Bring your digital
cameras,
knowledge of the city’s geography and mobile devices to discover
locations used
in movies such as Bullitt, The Conversation, Vertigo, Dark Passage, The
Lineup,
Time After Time, Invasion of the Body Snatchers and many more.
Experience the
mystery that captures San Francisco film history!
WHERE:
We will start at the Ferry Building Traffic Island promptly at 12:00 p.m.
WHEN:
Saturday June 5th, 2010, hunt will begin at 12 p.m. Plan to arrive by 11:30 a.m. for for
check-in.
WHO:
100 participants, in teams of two to five, will be competing for film-related prizes while exploring the landscape of San
Francisco's cinematic past. If you don’t have a team of your own, don't worry, we will help people find partners prior to the start of the event, please arrive early.
HOW:
Each team will receive a packet containing 20 printed screenshots from various San Francisco-based films. The screenshots will show a location, landmark or other visual cue from a San Francisco neighborhood. Teams will be tasked with uncovering the film and location, along with photographing the screenshot at each location for contrast (and proof of discovery). At 3:30, the scavenger hunt will cease and all the
teams will meet up at a pre-determined location, where the winning team
will be decided. No knowledge of film locations is
required—you just need a sharp mind, a digital camera (one per group)
and a good pair of shoes. You may want to bring a city map. You will be
able to use cell phones and GPS. All photos need to be taken with
one digital camera per team, no cell phone photos allowed.
WHY:
Teams will be learning about San Francisco
film history. Funds raised from the event will support the REFRAMESF Film Festival, a user-generated film festival featuring remade scenes of San Francisco- based films.
PRIZES:
The winning team will be determined by the highest number of locations
captured within the designated time. All scavenger hunt team photos must
be taken with one digital camera, cell phone photos will not be
accepted. Each winning team member will receive a film-related prize. Although the event is timed, our focus is less about competition and
more about having a fun, unique and educational experience. We can’t
wait to see you there!
